Website Programs

• Introduction:
  There are many ways you can start to build a website, even right down to using your text editor that comes with windows and writing traditional HTML code. Some use text editors, Microsoft word and even Microsoft Excel to write their websites. Traditionally, we happen to use an actual website building program.
   

• Text Editors:
  By opening your text editor that comes with just every windows operation system, it is quite possible to write HTML pages and code them manually. This is one of the most basic forms of website programs that can be used in writing individual pages for an upcoming website. We have even found a nice
  HTML tutorial on how to write HTML pages using Microsoft Word or any text editor. You will need an FTP utility (There are many free FTP Utilities on the web) in order to upload your web pages to your host.
   

• MS Word:
  Many computers come with Microsoft word. This is still an primitive way of generating web pages, but fairly easy to accomplish. All one has to do, is simply open Microsoft Word and write your page the way you would like and when it comes time to save the file, simply select Save As and choose the html format. This program is far better than a text editor, because this method allows you added tools to bold text and implement easier designs and colors automatically without the need to know HTML coding. You will still need an FTP Utility to upload your pages to your host.
   

• Front Page:
  This is probably one of the most popular website building programs available. It is very easy to learn and very versatile in implementing a huge array of custom website designs and even offers a few templates you can work with. As with many if not all of the website building programs, you will probably have to look at the code after you write pages to ensure the code used is valid. While really necessary to write valid code, we happen to think it is a good practice and shows the end user quality.

• Other programs:
  There are many other programs available to build your own website, but many are a little more complex than what we have already displayed. The point is simply displayed like this: You can research all the website building programs for sale, grab one - learn to use it, and then publish your website to your web host - via your domain name.
   

• Templates or not:
  Using templates can be a breeze to download and alter however, it has been our experience that the search engines like unique pages on the internet. By downloading and using a website template could be disastrous in its very first appearance on the world wide web. If you think about it for a moment, ask yourself these questions.
  
  How many other have downloaded this exact template, stuffed their content into it and then uploaded the template? What if you have changed the layout and the wording and everything seems way different? Did I change the table dimensions, sizes, renamed all of the images to my names, or did I completely alter the template page and make it my own?
  
  These are VERY IMPORTANT questions you should ask yourself before even thinking about using a template or free website builder program! Do yourself a favor and read what Google has to say.
